facilities (recently implemented). Following the scrutiny of the inspection by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education, the school facilities have greatly improved. A new extension has been built. This extension holds two lecture rooms, three interview rooms and a base for the school's Pupil Care and Support team, this followed heavy criticism of the Support services following several incidents involving Autistic pupils, in which they, allegedly, failed to provide adequate support leaving the pupils with severe mental health problems. Ventilation and heating in classrooms has slightly improved by the addition of new windows to most of the classrooms.

House system

The school operates a house system with three houses: Balmossie, Dalhousie and Panmure. The pupils are separated into these for registration classes (in the majority of cases, although there has been some exceptions in senior classes) and they also compete in these houses in sporting events throughout the year. The house that performs the best overall wins the house trophy at the end of the year which is presented in an awards ceremony. Other prizes awarded at the prize giving ceremony include subject prizes (S3 to S6), Academic Achievement awards, Certificates of Merit and the school Dux & Proxime Accessit awards.
