About half of the products come from Japan. 80% of the products presented by Japanese companies are awarded prizes.

Eligible Products

Products are submitted by all sizes of companies, from small craft manufacturers to large international producers.
Products can be registered in the following categories (called Selections): Spirits & Liqueurs, Beers, Waters & Soft Drinks, Food, Diet & Health, and Cosmetics & Toiletries.

Jury Members & Expert Committee

For the evaluation process, Monde Selection has been collaborating with over 70 scientists, experts, nutrition and health consultants, Sommeliers and Chefs from prestigious culinary organisations.

Tastings & Testings

Producers can register their products from October to January. Afterwards, testing and tasting sessions last over a 4 months period to guarantee each product to be evaluated properly and carefully. A maximum of 25 products per day are presented to the Jury in order to realise accurate analysis.

Each Selection has its own jury that will evaluate the product with up to 20 parameters. For further laboratory tests, Monde Selection cooperates with public and private institutions such as CERIA, BRUCEFO, Institut Meurice and Euroconsultant. Eventually, scores are added up and averaged to a final result corresponding to a label. The final results are communicated in April to the participating manufacturers.

Awards & Trophies

All products with a minimum score of 60% are awarded in the following way.
  • Bronze Quality Award: for products obtaining an average result between 60% and 69%
  • Silver Quality Award: for products obtaining an average result between 70% and 79%
  • Gold Quality Award: for products obtaining an average result between 80% and 89%
