Advanced Materials business to Apollo Management LP. The former GE joint ventures of GE Bayer Silicones and GE Toshiba Silicones became part of the newly formed company. The sale was completed for a total consideration of $3.8 billion.
On September 13, 2010, Apollo Management LP - the parent holding company of Momentive Performance Materials Inc. and Hexion Specialty Chemicals, Inc., - announced an agreement under which they will merge the companies will under a common holding company, creating a global leader in specialty chemicals and materials.
In April 2011, Momentive Performance filed to raise up to $863 million in an initial public offering.
