Encyclopedia
Missionary Flights International (MFI) is a Florida
-based charity that operates flights between Florida and areas of need in the Caribbean
, primarily Haiti
. MFI was founded in 1964 by Reverend Don H. Beldin; its current president is Richard Snook.
MFI makes regular bi-weekly flights to Haiti, ferrying both supplies and missionaries. MFI also flies to other destination as needs arise.
Missionary Flights International established in 1964, and also in that same year put under Florida law as a “help” ministry for missions. Missionary Flights International was located in Palm Beach, Florida and was there for forty years until working there became too expensive. When Rev. Baldin passed the reigns over to Snook Missionary Flights was moved over to Fort Pierce, Florida and has now been there for seven years and has been doing well. If it was not for Rev. Don H. Beldin Missionary Flights International would not be here today. Rev. Beldin had a heart for flying and for missions Missionary Flights International would not stand for what it does. After Rev. Beldin’s first trip to the Caribbean in 1960 he knew that his heart was set on missions and outreaching to those in need that had less than him and those of us lucky enough to be living in America. Rev. Beldin has now passed his leadership over the Dick Snook who has been the president there for seventeen years now. Within these seventeen years dick Snook has managed to open up several doors for Missionary Flights International. With the last few years there have been several events that have caused faith lines to be pushed and other religions to be put in place and those faiths to be tested. Missionary Flights International runs about only twenty employees, which is a small amount for the operation that is done there. January 2010 Haiti was hit with a huge earthquake that killed hundreds, injured several people, and many were missing for several days. Missionary Flights International was one of the first responses to Haiti and its people. Not only does Missionary Flights International focus on the mission at hand, but also fly’s missionaries out as needed and if a missionary happens to need a flight out to anywhere, for the most part, Missionary Flights International is there to be that help. Missionary Flights International is also focused on local missions that need to be done in Fort Pierce, Florida. As Missionary Flights International got started they were not a well-known group, they got their “fame” from how fast that they responded to the Haiti earthquake and how quickly that they were able to get supplies out there to Haiti. Missionaries have started to take note of Missionary Flights International and have begun to use the sources of Missionary Flights international to the fullest extent like never before. Because of the recognition that Missionary Flights International has gotten you can now go there and take a flight for twenty dollars around the area. They have also begun to have open houses to help raise money and to show others what they are doing and how they are serving God through the work of one man that happened to love to fly and who also loved God and used those two loves to start something that is now literally taking off.
