History

Mina was founded as a railroad town in 1905 and was named for Ferminia Sarras, a large landowner and famed prospector known as the 'Copper Queen.' The Nevada & California Railway, a division of Southern Pacific Railroad

Sodaville was an earlier town and station on the Carson and Colorado Railway, about 4 miles south of Mina. The Sodaville post office was active from October 9, 1882, until March 31, 1917, when its operations were moved to Mina.
