Club career

Riffo began in the youth ranks of Colo-Colo, making his professional debut in 2001 against Unión San Felipe

, Riffo has made over 150 caps with Colo Colo, has captained the team several times, has won seven national championships, and has participated in several different international competitions with Colo-Colo. His club foot has prevented from Riffo being transferred several times because he does not pass the team physical. In 2009, Riffo suffered several injuries and only capped 19 times for Colo-Colo. Riffo, among others, was one of the main players which caused former Colo-Colo coach Marcelo Barticciotto

 to resign from the team in early 2009. Barticiotto claimed Riffo and others were very undisciplined and did not prioritize football over other things such as smoking and drinking. Barticciotto kept Riffo out of team for several key matches, which caused turmoil between the club fans and players.
