Originally established in 1686, Middletown Township adopted a Home Rule
Charter in 1978. The Township is governed by the Council-Manager system, a representative form of government in which the 7 elected officials set policy for the Township and the Manager oversees the delivery of all public services and programs.

The median age was 46 years. For every 100 females there were 84.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 79.1 males.
