and intend to be inaugural hockey members of the Big Ten Conference
when it begins play during the 2013–14 season.
Michigan currently leads the series, which began on January 24, 1925, 138–123–18 . The teams are scheduled to play at least four times during the 2010–11 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey season
. The teams split the 2010–11 season series 2–2. The regular home arenas for the teams are Yost Ice Arena

(capacity 6470). However, the teams often play games on neutral sites and have played at least once per year since 1990 at the Joe Louis Arena
(capacity 20,066). The teams generally alternate years in which they hold a home game there. The last contest at "The Joe" was on January 29, 2011. The next contest there will be played on February 11, 2012.
