At eighteen he left for Kosovo
where he reported the war in Kosovo (1999) for the Italian editorial group Quotidiano Nazionale, beginning his activity as a foreign correspondence, which brought him to stay first in Kosovo, Albania and Montenegro, then in Israel and Palestine during the second Intifada (2002) and in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran, following the US invasion of Afghanistan (2003).
In 2003 he published the book Sognando Gerusalemme resulting from his stay in Israel
and Palestine
in 2002. At the end of 2003 he concluded his activities as journalist and dedicated himself to research, with special attention to European issues.
. Other work include comparative studies between the Treaty Establishing a Constitution for Europe and the Constitution of the United States of America (2004) and work on the reconstruction policy of Republican Italy, with a focus on the European Policy thinking of Alcide De Gasperi
, where his interviews with the Italian Senator Giulio Andreotti

For three years from 2006, he promoted and coordinated the start-up of Atomium Culture that was kept confidential until the public launch in agreement with the institutions engaged. This led to the first Permanent Platform for European Excellence that brings together over forty different European institutions. On 27 November 2009 Baracchi Bonvicini and Giscard d’Estaing publicly presented the Permanent Platform of Atomium Culture at the European Parliament in Brussels, during the first annual conference that brought together the leaders and main representatives of the actors engaged in the platform.

From April 2004 to December 2005 Baracchi Bonvicini planned an independent, supranational and non-profit organization for exchange and dissemination of research among the actors of a knowledge society.
