This disqualified Young’s results from the Birmingham 2003 World Indoor Championships (4x400m), Paris 2003 World Championships (400m) and the Monaco 2003 World Athletics Final (400m).
The event results now list Jamaica as World Indoor 4x400 m Relay gold medalists, a team that Blackwood was a member of, running the third leg of the relay.
In addition, Blackwood is subsequently the bronze medal winner of the 2003 400 m World Championships, as well as the winner of the 400 m at the 2003 World Athletics Final.
At the Jamaica National Championships in June Blackwood won his Quarter Final in 46.43, making him the fourth fastest qualifier for the semi finals. He was subsequently disqualified for running outside his lane, and thus eliminated from competing for a spot on the World Championship team.
In August Blackwood announced his retirement from the sport.

On February 24 2009 the IAAF issued a statement saying that they had received notification from USATF that Jerome Young (USA) admitted a doping rule violation from 1999 through 2003 and had been sanctioned with a life ban dating back to 1999.This disqualified Young’s results from the Birmingham 2003 World Indoor Championships (4x400m), Paris 2003 World Championships (400m) and the Monaco 2003 World Athletics Final (400m).
