, under supervision of an officer of the Pro Matelica, was awarded the "Patente da mattu"(license to be crazy). This tradition comes from the ancient law of The Ottoni family or Brass, which forced all the people who go bankrupt to do 12 laps around the fountain, screaming, "I have sold my possessions and for this none ever believe me."
  • The alley "Orfanelle" in the old town is known by most as the alley Basciafemmine or baciafemmine. The City was ruled between 1300 and 1650 by the vicariate control of the Ottoni family, given the name for their Brass uniforms. The tortuous nature of the apartments in the City are not allowed in fact seen, and many date back to tenements controlled by the Brass family or Ottoni Lordship.
  • The nicknames of the vicars have played an important role in the local country, identifying individuals or entire families. The Ottoni clan were the highest in rule in medieval times. They often did not know real names of the vicars, only the given nickname of his family, which meant the impossibility of being identified by others within the Vatican or back noth in Lombardy or Swiss regions. The nicknames were personal, like top Brass (Ottoni) or even a barber from the hand that stops short called brodolò, or entire families, so who is nicknamed Bajóccu, will never be a Valentinéllu or a Masció, despite the same surname.
