For several months in 1914, he was under the direct orders of General Francisco "Pancho" Villa
. He later wrote a five-volume biography
of Villa, Memorias de Pancho Villa (1936-1951).
Martin Luis Guzmán died suddenly on December 22, 1976 Mexico City
due an acute myocardial infarction. His widow Ana West, died seven years after him, on October 21st, 1983. She was 95 years old when, after being hospitalized for some days due to an acute bilateral neumonia, she suffered a cardiac arrest and died.
