Martin 'Marty' Clarke is an Australian former basketball player and the current head coach of the National Basketball League
's Adelaide 36ers
.
As a player, Clarke was a tenacious guard with the North Melbourne Giants
from 1988 to 1992 playing in 120 games including the 1989 NBL Championship win over the Canberra Cannons
. He joined the Giants from the Australian Institute of Sport
where he attended on a scholarship from 1985-1987 after starring as a junior in his native Tasmania. While attending the AIS, Clarke captained the Australian Under-19 team to fifth place at the 1987 FIBA Under-19 World Championship

On 29 March 2010, Clarke took up a three-year role with the 36ers as head coach following his 12 years at the AIS where he was AIS Assistant Coach from 1998-2002 and Head Coach from 2003-2010. He was also Australian National Junior Team Assistant Coach from 2001-2003 and Head Coach from 2005-2009, coaching such players as current NBA players Andrew Bogut
and Patrick Mills
along with European based Australian Boomers Brad Newley
and Joe Ingles
.
On 8 March 2011 Marty Clarke was named as Assistant Coach of the Australian Boomers. Clarke replaced outgoing assistant Shane Heal
who stepped down from the position due to time constraints and will join head coach Brett Brown
and fellow assistants Andrej Lemanis (New Zealand Breakers
head coach) and technical assistant Mo Dakhil.
