In 2009, Verpakovskis had to extend his contract with Dynamo Kiev for two years and the Greek Super League club Ergotelis signed him on a two-year loan. During those 2 years Verpakovskis played 46 league games and scored 7 goals for the club. After the season, in 2011, his loan spell ended and he returned to Kiev.

1) Verpakovskis worked as a football commentator for Latvian television during Euro 2008 matches. He remarked this being a great experience and didn't deny the fact that he might work as a commentator for the Ukrainian TV as well. He commentated the first 4 matches of the tournament.
