Gartman is also part of No Wait Wait, an indie rock outfit which formed in 2005. Their self-titled debut was released on Alan Sparhawk's (of Low) Chairkickers' Union Music record label. The recording features performances from Sparhawk and Mimi Parker (both of Low).
Marc Gartman has lived in Duluth, MN since 2005. His band, 'No Wait Wait', released their second album on Chairkickers' Union Music on September 12, 2006. They also recorded a third album in the summer of 2006 called 'You Need My Heart' that will not see release until 2007.
Gartman put the No Wait Wait moniker on indefinite hiatus in the Winter of 2006. A new project The Gallows with fellow Duluthian Nathan Starke was started around the same time. They recorded their debut album 'Sings Erik Sommer' in Gartman's home studio '3510 Minnesota'. This record was released on December 16, 2006. The Gallows have most recently recorded a version of 'Rainbow Connection' for a benefit CD.
Following the departure of his co-writer in The Gallows, Gartman formed Two Many Banjos with Dave Carroll on second banjo. Carroll, best known for his work with the bluegrass band Trampled By Turtles, picked up Gartman's songwriting pace; in the two years since they formed they have recorded 3 full length CD's with a fourth slated for early 2009. They have done this with their backing band of Karl Anderson on bass, Jillian Lantry on fiddle and Lane Prekker on washboard. The one exception is their third CD 'Give Me Time' which was recorded with Steve Garrington from the bands Low and Retribution Gospel Choir on bass.
He also finished a duets CD with Jerree Small under the name Coyote in 2008. This was recorded by Eric Swanson at Duluth, MN Sacred Heart Recording Studio.
Gartman also released 'Me and My Big Ego' in the fall of 2008 under the moniker Marc Gartband. This was recorded by Rich Mattson in his Sparta Sound recording studio in Northern Minnesota. As opposed to his Two Many Banjos project Gartband songs tend to have no banjo on them at all. There are tentative plans to dig into the archives and release 'You Need My Heart' (recorded in 2006) as a Marc Gartband album in April, 2009.
