Sikh "Mangat's" were instrumental in the creation and preservation of the Sikh religion and the Khalsa Panth. Mangats have been instrumental figures for centuries in military machines, ranging from the armies of the tenth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh to present day forces, including Indian, Pakistani, Australia, the United Kingdom, Canadian, and American.

Punjab and defended the region against hordes of invaders from Afghanistan, Central Asia and Persia who entered through Khyber Pass for loot, pilferage and plunder. No invader was allowed passage through that region. Nader Shah was forced to follow a different route to raid Delhi and never transgressed Mandi Bahauddin and Sargodha.
