Geography

Manakondur has its own historical places like rural palaces (Gadi Mahel), Bade Masjid, Saudagri Street, market, temples, Gov hospital, PS, and lakes. It has a beautiful lake before the village.

The village has a 500 year history, which is evident from the Gadi (Fort) at the entrance of the village. People say that there was an underground tunnel (Swarangam) to the fort at Ellagandal, which was once the district headquarters of Karimnagar. Still today the villagers show utmost respect to members of the Deshmuks family, so-called zamindars
Zamindar

 of the village in Gaddi.

The village has a temple on the hill which has a beautiful view of the village and surroundings. Old people say that in olden days a zamindar came for hunting along with his dog and used to rest near the lake (previously a small pond). The dog had a disease called Rachapundu (cancer). The dog used to sit and jump into the mud of the pond, and after some days the dog became healthy and the disease was cured. Thereafter the zamindar was also afflicted with Rachapundu (cancer). The zamindar too daily came and bathed in the mud of the pond, and his disease was cured. The zamindar was happy and thought this place has some importance and started constructing the Gadi (fort) and established the village near the Lake. Since the zamindar's rachapundu was cured, he named the village as "Manupundur" ('manu' means gone and 'Pundu' in Telugu means hurt).
