Mak is the son of the late Mr Matsamela Manaka (1956 - 1998), a renowned poet, choreographer, percussionist and human rights activist and Mrs Nomsa Manaka.
He has published a collection of poetry If Only (2002) and produced an album, Word Sound Power.

Biography
Mak received a Young Artist Award from the Funda Arts Center in Soweto when he was five years old. Following a near fatal accident, which left him severely disabled, Mak started writing poetry when he was fourteen. His first public performance was at in LuganoLugano
