Early career

Between April 2003 and 2006, Sultanakhmedov compiled a record of 5-2 in Russian promotions such as the International Absolute Fighting Council (IAFC) and the West Siberian Fighting Championship (WSFC). He defeated both inexperienced (Ali Mamaev, Andrei Andreev) and experienced (Azat Askerov, Vladimir Yushko) opponents, but also lost bouts to Alexander Shlemenko
