. MK News was launched in August 2002 and is delivered to homes across the Milton Keynes urban area

. It is delivered on Wednesdays (competing with the Milton Keynes Citizen which is dstributed free on Tuesdays and Thursdays). The News reports an audited adult readership of 130,591 which it says is the highest readership of any local newspaper in the area. It also reports that it won 'UK Weekly Newspaper of the Year' at the 2008 UK Newspaper Awards.
MKWeb pioneered the concept of involving the community in the creation and maintenance of local content. MKWeb is proud of it community content and directly supports over 40 community and voluntary organisations by providing and maintaining their websites free of charge. Here they can display their own content and be guaranteed a large number of visitors. A good example is the [Citizens Advice Bureau] who have won awards for their website and Speakeasy a local writers group who attract visitors from all over the world.
The religion area on MKWeb is one of the most popular areas of the website. This is a multi-denominational website maintained by one of our local residents on behalf of the whole community.
Just under two years ago, MKWeb’s parent company, Apollo Digital Developments Ltd, was bought by the Iliffe News and Media group. This move will gave Iliffe access to the Portal Constructor suite of software designed by Apollo for building content rich websites that grow organically through community involvement and to the expertise that has made MKWeb one of the largest and most successful city portals in the UK.
(April 2005) In the 7th Annual survey of local government websites MKWeb was ranked 9th out of 528 official city information websites. When weighted by population the results were an even more impressive 5th position. This is the third year in a row that the official site for Milton Keynes and North Bucks has left much larger cities trailing in its wake
In October 2008, MKWeb was awarded the “UK’s Community Website of the Year”.

MKWeb is the official website for Milton Keynes and North Bucks. The site has been running now for over ten years and has grown massively during that time. By the end of 2007 it reached a massive milestone of delivering over 6 million pages. In June 2006, MKWeb was awarded the contract to deliver MK Councils web services for the next 5 years with an option for the Council to extend this for a further 3 years. Our proposal included the provision to develop and support two websites, www.milton-keynes.gov.uk and www.mkweb.co.uk, and present them as a single city portal creating a facility unique to any town or city in the UK.MKWeb pioneered the concept of involving the community in the creation and maintenance of local content. Each year the Society of IT Managers (SOCITM) produce their “Better Connected Report” on behalf of the government. This report provides an insight into the popularity and quality of information provided by city websites associated with local councils.
