Lykken Er
Encyclopedia
"Lykken er" was the Norwegian
entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1971
, performed in Norwegian
by Hanne Krogh
.
The song is a moderately up-tempo number, with Krogh describing what she sees as examples of happiness - a series of small pleasures such as "an old hat/Which used to belong to your best friend" and "breakfast in bed".
During Preview Week, Krogh was shown singing her song sitting on top of a cliff, standing on roofs, walking down the pier in her hometown, and running with local children. On the night of the Contest, she sang the song in a ball gown, with elbow-length gloves and a parasol, which was used as a prop of sorts at different points in the song.
The song was performed eighteenth (last) on the night, following Finland
's Markku Aro & Koivistolaiset with "Tie uuteen päivään
". At the close of voting, it had received 65 points, placing 17th in a field of 18. The relatively high score for such a low finish is due to the voting structure in place at the time, where each entrant was effectively guaranteed 34 points.
It was succeeded as Norwegian representative

by Grethe & Benny with "Småting
