Luis Escobar y Kirkpatrick, 7th Marquis of the Guadalquivir Marshes (1905 in Madrid
– 16 February 1991 in Madrid), was a Spanish
actor, theatre director and playwright.
During his career he was the Director of the Teatro María Guerrero, the Teatro Español and the Teatro Eslava. He acted as Marqués de Leguineche in Luis García Berlanga's comedy trilogy.
In 1950 he directed the film La honradez de la cerradura
which was entered into the 1951 Cannes Film Festival
.
Luis Escobar never married and was openly homosexual, at list when democracy was restored in Spain
in 1975.
