LA 48 is an undivided, two-lane highway from US 61
to just west of Interstate 310
, where it briefly divides and expands to four-lanes. The highway again becomes an undivided, two-lane route just east of Interstate 310
and continues in said configuration to near Williams Boulevard in Kenner
. Here, the road divides and expands to four lanes once more until Central Avenue in Jefferson
, where it reverts back to an undivided, two-lane roadway from Jefferson Highway to US 61
