Plot summary

The Grayson twins never stayed in one school. Their parents' jobs were always moving. On the first day of sixth grade at their new school in Clifton, Ohio

, Ray is sick, so Jay goes alone. Then at school, when the teacher calls attendance, he realizes Ray's name is not on the list. Jay is about to tell a teacher when he realizes this is a perfect opportunity to see what it is like to be a single person. So Ray and Jay take turns going to school and doing the homework. Everything is going well, until each one starts making friends and starting to like different girls. It is a story of two boys understanding family ties and discovering things they did not know about themselves.
