between North Cheam and Epsom
. At the time, the service ran beyond Morden
to South Wimbledon
and Wimbledon railway station in the peak hours, and served Epsom railway station
rather than the General Hospital.
In 1973, the route was converted to double deck operation.
In 1982, it was moved from Merton to Sutton garage.
A year after that the routing was changed to serve Hackbridge
instead of Wimbledon
. Two years later, in April 1985, the service was swapped back to Merton garage.
In February 1989, operation was transferred to London County South West, and then in 1990, the route was withdrawn from Epsom station
and extended to Merton Abbey
Savacentre
.
Between 1995 and 1998, there were a number of route changes, but the route was finally standardised to run its current service in 2000, now operated by the new London General
.
The contract was awarded to Quality Line
for the service to begin in September 2003. The service was slightly re-routed between Morden
and North Cheam. The contract was then awarded to Metrobus, with it being taken over by them from August 2008, using 6 Scania OmniCitys and 1 Scania OmniDekka.
