List of red-flagged Formula One races
Encyclopedia
This is a list of Formula One
World Championship races which have been red-flagged, that is to say stopped at an unscheduled time. A race is red-flagged in dangerous conditions. Following a red flag, the race may be restarted after the danger has cleared or the race may be called and a result announced. If it is chosen that the race will not be restarted and less than 75% of the race distance has been completed, half the full number of points will be awarded if at least 2 laps have been completed. Red flags have been less frequent since the reintroduction of the safety car
in 1992 in full-course caution situations. This is because incidents that require marshals to do moderate work to cars or to tend to crashes will simply require the race to be neutralised behind the safety car at reduced pace while marshals tend to the issue at hand, instead of a red flag, which requires the race be stopped for a minimum of 15 minutes.
A pink background indicates races which were not restarted.
