, the service was managed by Isao.Net. The games in the list below that can still be played online are 4x4 Evolution, Starlancer, Sega Web Browsers, Maximum Pool, Quake III Arena and Phantasy Star Online. Sega ceased supporting their servers for online gameplay in 2002 and a year later stopped paid servers for Phantasy Star Online in the US. This was followed by the closure of the PAL and Japanese servers for Phantasy Star Online in April 2007. It is still possible however to play this game online using the Schthack servers (see references below).

Most of the games offering online capabilities also included a web browser, which was upgraded frequently on GD-ROM

 and also came with the console. Initially these early browsers were set to connect directly via Sega's official dialup service, but they later released a version that could dialup through any third party ISP by allowing you to input a custom phone number. Communication computability itself is dependent on the type of game or browser, for instance some games only used Microphone chat while others Keyboard or Keyboard and mouse chat to avoid the defunct controller method. They can still be used to surf the Internet if the console is configured correctly, and if one knows how, it's possible to connect a Dreamcast to a PC and share its broadband connection (also in references).
