Lissan have won the Derry Junior Football Championship
three times. Underage teams up to U-12's play in South Derry league and championships, from U-14 upwards teams compete in All-Derry competitions.

In September 2007 another new pavilion was unveiled in Lissan. Like 17 years beforehand it was officially opened by Peter Quinn. The main feature of the afternoon was a challenge match between Ballinderry
and St. Gall's.

Matty drum- Known for inflicting serious harm on a young boy living in cookstown known by his greasy hair. At his first year in St Marys during a heated affair between houses D and F, Mathew "The Bomber" Drum lifted a rock and bounced it off his colleges head. In an enquiry later that day Matthew swore "Please!!!!!! I didn't mean to cause him any harm"

The club was first founded in 1910 as Ruairi Ógs, with John Corr as the first Chairman. Mathes were played on a pitch known as "The Waterside" in Tullynure. The club officially became St. Michael's in 1962 when was affiliated to the South Derry Board, with Joseph O'Hagan as Chairman, Bernard McGready as Secretary and Paul O’Hagan as Treasurer. In 1977 the club laid a new playing field. Work on a new pavilion commenced in 1986 and was officially opened in August 1990 by GAA President ElectPresidents of the Gaelic Athletic Association
