History

In 2007, Dolce & Gabbana released Light Blue Pour Homme in response to the massively popular female counterpart Light Blue for women. The Italian fashion house contracted perfumer Olivier Cresp to develop the fragrance. The designers who frequent Sicily asked Cresp to make a fragrance inspired by the sensual aromas of the Mediterranean which took over two years to perfect.

Reception

According to the New York Times, the fragrance earned a 5 star rating. In 2008, Light Blue won the best men's fragrance at the FiFi Awards

Advertising

The initial advert for the fragrance was filmed in Capri, Italy and shows models David Gandy and Marija Vuyovic in white bikinis kissing on a raft. According to British researchers, the advertisement is among the sexiest television adverts.

By 2010, the ads featured Anna Jagodzinska rather than Marija Vuyovic. Instead of the raft, the models are seen swimming in white swimsuits to shore where they embrace. The advertisements were shot by legendary fashion photographer Mario Testino
