As of 2009 Ligature is in its eighteenth annual iteration. The event focuses on showcasing design works by University of Florida Graphic Design students and is traditionally held alongside UF's Juried Student Arts Show, a show that typically does not accept graphic design works. The highlight of Ligature at the University of Florida is that it is entirely run and organized by upper-division Graphic Design students in UF's graphic design club, VOXgraphis. Each year, members of VOXgraphis are elected into the usual club positions such as President, Vice President, Treasurer etc., and one of Ligature-Chair. The nominee is solely responsible for organizing the Ligature event using university student government funding as well as sponsor funding. Sponsorship varies from year to year and usually consists of companies local to Gainesville, Florida
