Liam "Skin" Tyson is an English
guitarist, best known as the lead guitarist for Liverpool
band Cast
.
Prior to joining Cast, Tyson played in the band 'Pyramid Dream' who played around Liverpool in the late 80's and early 90's. The band toured Russia
in 1991, in a cultural exchange tour organised by Liverpool City Council
and appeared on compilation LP "One Summer In Liverpool". The music of this band was a sophisticated blend of Pink Floyd
style ambience with shades of U2
's emotive power and something of the harmonic and melodic subtlety of the Pat Metheny Group
, of whom the band were big fans. Tyson did not contribute greatly to the compositions of this band however, his contribution lying in 'total dedication to his instrument'.
Since the demise of Cast, Tyson has gone on to tour, record and write with Led Zeppelin
frontman Robert Plant
in his band "The Strange Sensation
", following the departure of Porl Thompson
. Now based in Snowdonia
, he has also been working on a project "Men From Mars", featuring members of The Strange Sensation and Pyramid Dream.
Cast have reformed and will tour in the UK in November 2010.
