He is Leader of the Labour Group on the London Assembly, as well as a member of the Business Management and Administration Committee, the Confirmation Hearings Committee, the Standards Committee, and Deputy Chair of the Economic Development, Culture, Sport and Tourism Committee.
Outside the London Assembly, he is the Chair of the Greater London Labour Party, a non-executive Director of Tilfen Land, a property development company and a board member of the Royal Artillery Museums Trust, his father and grandfather having served as gunners

In August 2011 the Sunday Mirror reported Len Duvall's 26-year-old son Mark Duvall was arrested for burglary. He is alleged to have burgled a Vodafone shop during a riot in Woolwich. His father had spoken out against the disturbances. It was subsequently reported that the police were not taking any further action against Mark Duvall.
