In 2001, Halter found back to his economical roots when he started as a reporter and columnist for Wall Street Correspondents, a financial news company founded and at the time run by well-known German TV reporter Markus Koch. During his time with the company, Halter was witness to the terror attacks of September 11, 2001 and reported about the events for several newspapers and radio stations.

Since 2006, Halter regularly reports financial news from the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange

Halter is currently the General Chairman of the German-American Steuben Parade and Executive Manager of the German-American Committee of Greater New York, one of the largest organizations of its kind in the US. He is in charge of German-American cultural programming in the greater New York area and is regularly organizing concerts, movie and literature events, comedy as well as food related events including beer and wine tastings. He is also a Director at the German-American Heritage Foundation of the USA
