Livestrong Guidebook

The Livestrong Guidebook is a companion for cancer survivors as they navigate the health care system. This two-volume set contains helpful information and journal spaces that help survivors address the physical, emotional and practical concerns they may have during the cancer journey.

Livestrong Survivor Care

At any point during someone’s cancer experience, Livestrong provides free, confidential support through education, referrals and counseling services.

Smoke Free Texas

Smoke-Free Texas is a broad coalition of organizations who believe all Texas workers have the right to breathe clean indoor air. Because science tells us secondhand smoke kills, we support a statewide law to protect Texans from the dangers of secondhand smoke exposure in the workplace. No one should have to choose between a job and their health.
“We believe the Texas economy benefits from a healthy workforce. Legislation prohibiting smoking in indoor public places is a no-cost way to prevent the many diseases caused by exposure to secondhand smoke and will save Texas taxpayers and businesses money.”

Californians for a Cure

Californians For a Cure is a broad coalition of organizations who support the passage of a $1 per pack increase to the state’s tobacco tax to fund cancer research and tobacco prevention and cessation programs. The coalition supports passage of this tax through the California Cancer Research Act, a proposition that will appear on the 2012 Presidential Primary ballot, and dedicate more than $500 million annually to cancer research.

One Voice Against Cancer

One Voice Against Cancer (OVAC) a collaboration of national non-profit organizations representing millions of Americans, delivers a unified message to Congress and the White House on the need for increased cancer-related appropriations.
One Voice Against Cancer began in January 2000 as a working group of public health organizations dedicated to ensuring that the federal government provides the necessary investments for cancer research and application programs. It has since grown into an effective lobbying coalition on cancer funding that has enabled the community to enhance policymakers’ awareness of the need for substantial increases in essential cancer programs. Lawmakers and federal agencies are asked also to focus efforts on outreach into ethnic minority and other underserved populations, many of which have a higher risk and mortality from various forms of cancer.

Livestrong Challenge

The Livestrong Challenge Series is the signature fundraising event for Livestrong. For the past thirteen years, the Series has raised over $60 million for the fight against cancer. In 2010, the Livestrong Challenge Series will visit four cities across the United States: Seattle, Washington; San Jose, California; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Austin, Texas.

24 Hours of Booty

24 Hours of Booty is the official 24-hour ride of Livestrong, which brings cyclists of all abilities together to raise vital funds for cancer research and survivorship. Since 2002, more than 6,000 riders have raised more than $3.7 million for cancer research and survivorship.

Movember

November is the month formerly known as November where men start clean shaven and commit to growing a Moustache. That's right, we are bringing back the Moustache this November to raise funds and awareness for men's cancers. If you would like to join a global movement changing the face of men's health sign up for Movember 2010. To date, Movember has raised $47 million globally making it the world's largest charity event for men. Significantly, awareness of men's health issues has improved with Movember helping to spread important health messages directly to millions of Mo Bros & Sistas around the world.

Swing Fore! Yellow

The first Swing Fore! Yellow Charity Golf Classic took place in Plano, TX in 2009, and was put on by long time Livestrong supporters, Steve and Lee Nagel. In 2010, we have expanded to three new cities, Atlanta, San Diego and Denver, and will continue to add new cities each year. In 2009, the Plano tournament raised over $300,000 for Livestrong.

Be Bold, Be Bald!

On October 22, 2010, anyone who wants to show solidary with those affected by cancer while raising money for charity can "Be Bold, Be Bald." Participants are sponsored to wear a bald cap for a day. With a $15 sign-up fee, each participant will receive a kit including a bald cap and t-shirt. Net proceeds from the event will benefit Livestrong and other cancer charities. Participants choose which charity will receive the funds they raise.

 - which traverses the Continental Divide from Banff, Canada to the U.S./Mexico border. The 2711-mile journey has been dubbed "the toughest bike race in the world" by Outside Magazine. Directed by Hunter Weeks and produced by Mike Dion and Joe Cantwell, Ride The Divide won "Best Adventure Film" upon its premiere at the 2010 Vail Film Festival.
The filmmakers are partnering with Livestrong to raise funds for the Foundation via the national roll-out of "Ride The Divide." Starting Sept. 22 and continuing through Livestrong Day on Saturday, Oct. 2, 50 percent of the proceeds from iTunes and DVD sales of the film will be donated to the charity.

My Run Documentary

"MY RUN", is the inspirational and powerful documentary about a real life super hero Terry Hitchcock; the 57 year old man who ran 75 consecutive marathons in 75 consecutive days after his wife died of breast cancer to bring awareness to the struggles faced by single parent families.

Eric Shanteau’s Swim for Life

US Olympic Swimmer and cancer survivor Eric Shanteau will be hosting his first annual Open Water Event at Lake Lanier Islands September 18 and 19 benefiting Livestrong.

Grassroots Fundraising Events

The Livestrong Grassroots Fundraising Program is for individuals, groups, businesses, schools and clubs - anyone who is interested in raising funds for LIVESTRONG by holding events or participating in other established events. These events can include fun runs and walks, bicycle rides, silent auctions or other organized activities.
