Lady Elizabeth was the daughter of Edward Cavendish, Marquess of Hartington
(later 10th Duke of Devonshire
) and his wife, Mary née Gascoyne-Cecil
. She was born three (3) days after Princess Elizabeth of York
was born in 1926.
It is believed she introduced Princess Margaret to Anthony Armstrong-Jones in 1951 and although she herself never married, Elizabeth Cavendish did form a close relationship with the writer and future Poet Laureate
