La Dune is the name of the 12 kilometre-long tombolo
sandspit
which connects Miquelon Island
and Langlade Island
in the French North American territory of Saint Pierre and Miquelon. A large natural lagoon, Grand Barachois
lies at the northern end of the sandspit, where it joins Miquelon. In the 18th century it was still possible to sail a boat between Miquelon and Langlade, but by the end of that century La Dune had closed in to form an isthmus
between the islands.
