Encyclopedia
LATAM Airlines Group, or LATAM, is a new airline group formed by the merger of LAN Airlines
and TAM Airlines. The two airlines plan to continue flying with separate brands in the short term, but expect substantial synergies from merging their operations. The merger is expected to be complete by mid-2011. Enrique Cueto, the current CEO of LAN, has been announced as the CEO of the new company; Mauricio Rolim Amaro, currently vice-chairman of TAM, would become chairman of LATAM.
