Kurt and brother Ryan began working on a side project, Limblifter, and released a self-titled album in 1996, which contained a trio of top-40 Canadian rock radio hits. After the dissolution of Age of Electric in 1999, Limblifter released a second album, Bellaclava in 2000. Kurt soon left the band to focus on his work with The New Pornographers, who gained much critical acclaim for their albums Mass Romantic
