The Korouni dialect is a Northwestern Iranian language in Fars and Kurdistan.
Koruni is a Kurdish tribe of Kurdistan and Fars. Most of the tribe was transplanted from Kurdistan to Fars by Karim Khan Zand during the 1760s.

Consonants

  • fricative: ð, like in, 'peðar' (father).
  • voiced velar fricative: γ, like in 'tiγ' (thorn).
  • alveolar trill: like in 'borra' (flail).
  • palatal: 'g' and 'k', like in 'gilas' (cherry) and 'goruk' (hank of yarn) for 'k'.

Nouns

  • The suffix "-aka" makes nouns definite. Examples:

čerâγ (lamp) → čerâγ-aka (the lamp)
  • The indefinite marker is "i". Example:

melâl (child) → melâl-i (a child)
  • The plural is marked by the suffix "-al" . Examples:

sif (apple) → sif-al-aka (the apples)

orsi (shoe) → orsi-y-al-aka (the shoes) ('y' is used if noun ends in vowel)
