, the Knox CCF.

The CCF was officially closed down in 2010 after no middle ground could be found between the MoD and School to keep it open. Head teacher, J.B. Craig, declined invitations to the council meeting. Comments provided by Mrs Craig during a meeting of the Knox Parents' Group can be read in the minutes of the meeting. A statement was issued by the Head of Education from East Lothian Council defending the lack of commentary prior to this, however in an open letter sent by the head teacher, the matter of the storage of rifles on school premises was hinted as being a contributing factor to the final decision, despite the fact no weapons were actually being kept on school grounds and were actually being stored at the nearby Loretto Private School.

The Knox Academy Combined Cadet Force marched for the final time on the 5th September 2010, delivering the standards to the local church.
