King Abdullah Sports City is a description of a new multi-use stadium and sports city located 60 kilometers north of Jeddah
, Saudi Arabia
that is currently in the planning stages. The main stadium will be used for football, while smaller sports venues surrounding the main stadium will host athletics and indoor sporting events in indoor arenas. The capacity of the main stadium is between 60,000 and 100,000 spectators. King Abdullah
gave approval for the construction of the project in February 2009. The facility will be named in his honor. Saudi Aramco
has started the process to select a contractor for the project.
