Princess Khaliya received her Masters degree in Public Health at Columbia University
and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Bulgaria from 1999 - 2001.
Aside from her activities in health, she often works in tandem with her husband, Prince Hussain Aga Khan, on issues of import to the Aga Khan Development Network such as the Aga Khan Award for Architecture http://www.akdn.org/agency/aktc_akaa.html and the Aga Khan Historic Cities Program http://www.akdn.org/agency/aktc_hcsp.html.
Prince Hussain (second son of His Highness the Aga Khan and Princess Salimah Aga Khan) and Princess Khaliya were married at the Chateau de Chantilly
on 16 September 2006. Miss Kristin White adopted the name Khaliya upon embracing Islam, the day of her marriage, on Saturday 16 September. Princess Khaliya is the second daughter of Professor Norman White and his wife Margaret, of Montclair, New Jersey, U.S.A. (Mr. White is a Professor of Information Operations and Information Systems at the Stern School of Business at New York University, and Mrs. White is a psychologist in private practice in Montclair).
