, where he focused on International Politics, American Political Institutions, and Political Theory. He completed his Master of Arts in Political Science in 2006. Howell considers this time not only essential to his future work as a college professor, but to his writing skills in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Career

Currently, Howell teaches introductory Political Science at the college level. This is a macro focused class which covers individual, nation/state, and international levels of study.

Howell also writes Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu books for Victory Belt Publications. His first book was Jiu-Jitsu University, written with famed instructor Saulo Ribeiro. His second and third books, featuring Andre Galvao and Leo Vieira are due to be released in the first quarter of 2010.

Aside from Victory Belt books, Howell has also contributed magazine articles for Fight and Life, Gong, and BudoVideos (now Martial Generations), as well as for the Budo Blog.

In 2005, Howell began working with film for OntheMat.com and BJJTapes.com and has since worked as a video editor and director on projects for Cryo Productions and Torrential Films.
