Ketteler and also Kettler is the name of a German noble
family of Westphalia
. Goswin Ketteler zu Assen (um 1400, † um 1471) divided around 1440 the property with his younger brother Röttger. He built on his part of the ground a new house and called himself since then Kettler Neu Assen. He changenged the background of his coats from silver to gold - the so cold golden line. The silver line spells still Ketteler and is called the silver line Ketteler Alt Assen.
