In addition, Kentwood High School was also one of 41 schools in the country named a Grammy Signature in 2004 for their Music Program, which included a check for $1000 USD as a donation to the program. The Kentwood Drama program, directed by Rebecca Lloyd, is also recognized statewide and has received numerous awards and nominations from the 5th Avenue Theatre's High School Musical Theatre Awards.

Kentwood's competitors are Kentridge, Kentlake, Kent-Meridian, Auburn, Auburn Mountainview, Auburn Riverside, and Tahoma, Kentwoods traditional rival is Kentridge High School, a feud which started due to both schools being located on East Hill. Kent Meridian is a big rival of Kentwood, the rivalry carried on from the rivalry between Mill Creek and Meridian Middle School.
