 State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (KSEDC Ltd). The name Keltron was coined from two words, Kerala Electronics and when it was necessary to use a small word in Telegrams referring to the company. Later, the same naming convention was adopted to name two other state owned electronic companies namely Meltron (Maharashtra Electronics) and Uptron (UP Electronics).

s, radios and other consumer electronics goods. On this end, the company was a failure to provide its quality consumer goods with competing rates and hence its products could not compete in international market. Keltron is famous for its automatic traffic regulation systems. In early days, Keltron traffic signals were used in all the major metro cities of India. Currently it is mainly used in Kerala and few neighbouring states.

Currently, major products of the company include mines for Indian navy and various parts of Rockets for Indian space research organisation ISRO. The company also produces basic electronic components such as capacitor

During the early days of Globalisation, Keltron faced severe crisis, and became loss making unit, due to the failure in competing with multinational companies.

Recently the company has started recovering from the crisis and is currently operating in profit. In 2005-06 the company made a net turn over of 109 crores with an operating surplus of 13 crores.
