He is a past Cabinet Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture and Consumer Services (now Services Nova Scotia) as well as holding many other cabinet responsibilities.
Colwell was honoured as an environmental hero for his efforts in successfully banning the burning of tires in Nova Scotia and has been a volunteer fireman with 13 years’ experience.
Colwell and his wife Elizabeth live in Porter’s Lake.
