Kardan derives its name from a Persian word ( کاردان ) which means "professional". The logo portrays the name in Persian.

Kardan began its operation in a small classroom with 15 students, in a country which was experiencing privatization in higher education for the first time, and now it has become one of the largest private higher education institutions in the country.

Kardan University offers higher education in the disciplines of management sciences, information technology, engineering, and social sciences at the graduate level.

Recently, Kardan Institute of Higher Education once again proved that it really is the first and the largest private institute of higher education in Afghanistan. This institute granted bachelor degrees to 320 graduates in the fields of business administration and computer science programs. This, therefore, is a great achievement for the Government of Afghanistan supporting the private sector, the graduates' families and a contribution to the economic system by contributing energetic workforce with the "Golden Passport" in hand.
