In the mythology of India, Kadru (Kadrū in IAST
notation, Devanagari
: कद्रू), is usually the daughter of Daksha
, wife of Kashyapa, and the mother of the Nagas. This is according to the Mahabharata
(Adi Parva).
In some accounts, derived from the Ramayana
, she is however the daughter of Kasyapa and Krodhavaśā, who is another daughter of Daksha. Thus she may alternatively be considered the granddaughter of Daksha.
