. KINT-TV signed on the air on May 5, 1984. For many years, it was the only Spanish TV station in El Paso.

KINT was founded by a consortium of local businessmen including Larry Daniels (one time manager of KROD-TV, owner of KINT AM/FM radio, and owner of other businesses.) and E.H. Bayesa, owner of a downtown grocery store. KEHB-TV was the station's original callsign though it was never used on the air. The letters were changed to KINT (TV) standing for "K-Internacional".

El Paso is divided by a prominent natural ridge (part of the Franklin Mountains) where all of the US based TV stations have their towers and antennas. There are four general sites ranging from 600 to 1800 feet (548.6 m) above average terrain, the 300 feet (91.4 m) self supporting tower just above Scenic Drive (long time ch7/ch13), the "Old Channel 4" site with a 288 feet (87.8 m) tower first used by channel 4 KROD-TV (aka KDBC-TV), the "New 4 site", Channel 0, and ch 14. For the new KINT-TV Daniels worked out a partnership between KDBC-TV, KINT-TV 26 and Larry Gallatin's two way company. A new 440 feet (134.1 m) self supporting tower was put up, with channnel 4 at its top, channel 26 side mounted, 100 feet (30.5 m) that was long vacant (now occupied by 93.1 KSII and 93.9 KINT-FM) and two way space at the bottom.

KINT-TV has operated out of studios at 5426 North Mesa since its beginning. The Chief Engineer has been Alfredo Durand since sign on.

Before its sign-on, the call letters KINT were assigned to an AM station on 1590 kHz and popular FM radio station (KINT-FM 97.5), billing itself as "Kint 98" during the disco era of the 1970s.
